Russell Positive Despite Difficult Weekend in Darwin

July 1, 2016 Russell Positive Despite Difficult Weekend in Darwin

Erebus Motorsport showed consistency as they claimed their second top ten finish consecutively over two rounds. General Manager Barry Ryan is happy with the team’s progress –

“I have maintained all along that the top ten is our goal and I am happy we have achieved it two rounds in a row. It’s a competitive field and we need to be consistent”.

David Reynolds race on Saturday had its complications as he was bumped by another driver which caused a puncture. He rebounded today to finish a creditable 9th –

“Yesterday was tough I got bumped and had to pit early. Today was much better. We need to focus on our qualifying speed but our race pace is consistent. I really feel we made some positive steps forward this weekend”.

Aaren Russell’s weekend has been rough. He was forced out of Friday’s second practice due to an on track incident, and his 22nd and 19th respectively in the races didn’t show the gains he genuinely achieved –

“My finishes this weekend didn’t show the true gains we made. My race yesterday was good, our pace was good and I am happy with the speed we found in the second part of today’s race. I am bummed I got spun but I need to move forward and focus on the next round”.

Team owner Betty Klimenko is proud of her team’s achievements in Darwin –

“The team is doing a tremendous job. Dave claiming two top ten finishes two rounds in a row is a credit to him and the team and Aaren continues to improve every time he gets in the car. I am really proud of the entire team’s effort this weekend to endure some unforeseen racing incidents and the heat. They are all working well together”.

Barry Ryan is looking forward to Townsville and aims to maintain top ten finishes –

“We still have a lot of work ahead. We learn something every time they drive. Data makes you rich in motor sport and we will analyse everything from this weekend and put it to good use in Townsville”.

Reynolds now sits equal 16th in the championship whilst Aaren sits in 26th.
